The Entrance Hall of The Cavalry and Guards Club, Piccadilly
On Monday 11th November, over a 100 guests joined Veterans Aid Patron, the Dowager Viscountess Rothermere, at a dinner at The Cavalry and Guards Club to raise awareness of the Veterans Aid First World War Commemorative event to be held at The Royal Albert Hall on Remembrance Sunday 2014. The venue was generously offered to Veterans Aid by Colonel Christopher MacKenzie-Beevor, the Chairman of the Club.
Veterans Aid CEO, Dr Hugh Milroy said, “I am so very grateful to all involved for what was a truly special evening. In particular, I am deeply indebted to the Cavalry & Guards Club, whose splendid generosity made the evening possible. It was so fitting that they ‘fired the first shot’ to launch the biggest fundraising event, being run by The Lady R Foundation, in our long history.
“I cannot begin to thank the service personnel and performers who made this wonderful evening so out of the ordinary. I continue to be amazed by all that they do for Veterans Aid and are very grateful as ever to them all.”
Guests of the evening were led by our Patron the Dowager Viscountess Rothermere and the Chief of The General Staff, Sir Peter Wall, who spoke in support of Veterans Aid.
This wonderful event was a success thanks to an immense support we received from the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry, the Royal Hospital Chelsea, and the Royal Naval Reserve. The evening featured fabulous entertainment including the Fusilier Corps of Drums during the reception which was followed by the Band of the Irish Guards, the Royal Choral Society, and the Queen’s Colour Squadron. After dinner, the Band and Corps of Drums of the Royal Logistic Corps ended the evening on the highest possible note.
