The Worshipful Company of Vintners, which received its first Royal Charter in 1363, has origins steeped in the history of the City of London and the import, regulation and sale of wine.
Stephen Freeth, Archivist and Charities Secretary of the Company, said: “I was delighted to report that The Vintners’ Foundation Committee granted Veterans Aid £5,000 towards the refurbishment of New Belvedere House.
“The present focus of grant giving is on charities that alleviate the social effects of alcohol abuse. The Vintners’ Foundation Committee felt that a donation to VA would fit very well with this focus. The Company has worked with the charity in the past, and was very favourably impressed with what it saw, so it was wonderful to be able to renew its acquaintance with Veterans Aid with some serious practical help.”
