Starting the New Year with the sustained support of Douglas and Gordon
January 16, 2020
Douglas & Gordon (D&G), a leading London estate agency who opened their first office in 1958, have been fundraising for Veterans Aid since 2018.
Always innovative, D&G have organised events such as Quiz nights and a Valentine’s Day, where staff bought roses and chocolates to send to people around the company with little messages.
They also annually take part in the Hampton Court Half Marathon, in aid of VA. For the festive period, D&G employees participated in a fundraising Christmas jumper day and helped prepare Christmas boxes for every veteran at VA’s residential facility, New Belvedere House.
Ailsa is an employee at Douglas & Gordon with family who were in the military. She said:
‘The employee who introduced D&G to VA and put them forward as a potential partner charity was a former Army officer in the Queen’s Royal Lancers. However, the real connection felt by everyone that voted for VA was really centred around the issue of homelessness.‘
‘As an Estate Agency, we are in the business of finding homes for people so the fact that there are people without homes really resonates with most at D&G. What then attracted us to VA was the no nonsense, ‘get things done approach.”
Dr Hugh Milroy, CEO of Veterans Aid added:
‘We are incredibly grateful to receive the support of Douglas & Gordon. In very different ways, we are both committed to finding suitable accommodation for our clients. They helped ensure that Christmas at New Belvedere House was filled with a sense of warmth and generosity. I’m excited to see what ideas they have planned for the new year.’
Veterans Aid has been providing immediate support to those most in need since in 1932. In 2020 we will continue to offer our frontline services, all year round.
