After a night in the cells, two hours sleep and a visa that expired before he reached the border crossing, VA fundraiser Olly Cardozo and his trusty sidekick ‘Mildred’ could be forgiven for wanting to throw in the towel. But with the bleak prospect of a long and lonely drive ahead of them the pair are still determined to reach Ulan Bator.
A family member reported, “Olly and Mildred are being deported to Kazakhstan and then will head to Mongolia. There’s no stopping them!”
Exchanges reminiscent of a Le Carre novel describe Olly’s fight to retain his passport, negotiate a fine, and deal with being branded an illegal immigrant – but the good news is that our intrepid fundraiser hopes soon to be back on the road – with only 1,712 miles separating he and Mildred from the Mongolian border.
This pair have gone SO MANY extra miles to raise funds for Veterans Aid that we can only watch and admire.
