Ministry of Defence Police raise funds for Veterans Aid

3 August 2017

Veterans Aid has a 100 reasons to be grateful to the Ministry of Defence Police who have passed on the proceeds of small fundraising event to the charity.

Inspector Peter McDonald, who handed over £100 to CEO of Veterans Aid Dr Hugh Milroy, said, “The MOD police have a close affinity with the military  and during the course of their patrols  within Central London frequently have to deal with people who are homeless.

“After reading in Defence publications about  veterans living on the streets, the MDP officers at Whitehall decided that they would donate a small sum of money to a veterans charity.”

Dr Milroy said, “It‘s always very special to us in the frontline at VA when members of the military community step up to support us.  Last year we spent £21,000 on emergency meals and £40,000 on emergency accommodation.  The monies donated will be used directly for emergency support.”
