Harbeth Audio Ltd, one of the last remaining wholly British loudspeaker brands, has proved that it’s in tune with the needs of homeless veterans by donating  £5,000 to Veterans Aid.

Managing Director Alan Shaw said, “I was determined to do something for the charity after reading about the plight of ex-servicemen and women this Christmas.”

After applauding VA’s ‘marvellous work’  work he said, “I thought the team seemed to be a very dedicated and committed bunch of people. They work really hard to help those in desperate need by providing immediate and practical help.”

CEO of Veterans Aid Dr Hugh Milroy said, “This money from Harbeth Audio, whose business is selling loudspeakers, will help us give a voice to those who have become invisible – veterans who are socially isolated, homeless or in distress.  £5,000 is a significant sum as it enables us to support one homeless veteran in our New Belvedere House hostel for almost an entire year.”

Harbeth Audio Ltd was formed in 1977 by the BBC’s former head of loudspeaker research. Since then it  has become a worldwide brand, exporting to over 44 countries, accounting for 80-90% of its business.

In a further act of generosity the company will top up its minimum donation by adding a further £50 from the sale of every pair of new Harbeth speakers sold to a member of the public, anywhere in the world, until 31 December 2014. Purchasers just have to email the office confidentially with their valid serial number and purchase details.

Alan Shaw, said, “It won’t cost the purchaser or dealer anything – we’re funding this from HQ as our mark of respect for those who have fallen on hard times. If you purchase but do not email us we will assume that you do not wish to be counted-in, which is entirely your prerogative and we perfectly understand and respect your position. There is no obligation whatever, just register your speakers for warranty as normal.”
