Andrew Parkinson, Dean McClumpha, Mark Baines and Andy Pearson are planning to pound the streets of New York to raise money for Veterans Aid.
The four chefs have an established track record of supporting good causes; they have all run marathons before – but it is the first one in New York for Andy.
Andrew Parkinson, Executive Chef at London’s Brasserie Zedel, said “We all have a connection to the armed forces – therefore myself and a team of three chefs have decided to host a dinner to raise funds for Veterans Aid. That’s the easy part! We will then be venturing off to run the New York Marathon in November to raise awareness of the charity as far as we can.”
The 45th edition of the New York race is scheduled for the 1st November 2015. Last year over 50,000 people finished the run – it is the largest marathon in the world.
Andrew Parkinson has been a Head Chef at Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen. He said “‘I trained Dean and Mark at Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen – we have known each other for almost 10 years now. Andy isn’t a ‘cheffie’ but gets involved in events with us to learn the trade and eat the food. We all have separate jobs so it’s impossible to train together but we advise each other over the phone.”
To boost the travel and subsistence kitty a four-course dinner with a very military flavor will be held at Wellington Barracks on Saturday 12th September 2015. There is an allocation for 110 guests and 95 seats have already been taken. The ‘Four Chefs’ NYC Marathon Just Giving page will augment the fund and all money raised by sponsorship will go to support the work of Veterans Aid.
