New Belvedere House will be getting a refurbishment unlike anything it has had before when top designers Oliver Burns start to work their magic.Designs for the communal living spaces have already been drawn up and the company will completely refurbish these areas over the coming months to provide a warm and welcoming home for residents.
CEO of Veterans Aid Dr Hugh Milroy said, “We were stunned when Oliver Burns approached us with the offer to do this work. For many veterans New Belvedere House represents a key stage in their journey back to wellbeing. The word ‘hostel’ is a misnomer because while people are with us, it is their home. We can supply warmth, humour, compassion and practical help, but we rely on donations and goodwill to provide furnishings and all the little ‘extras’ that make so much difference.”
“We can’t put a price on this makeover. Its value is the message, to all residents, that we think they are the same as everyone else – entitled to dignity, respect and the right to live in peaceful, pleasant surroundings.”
An Oliver Burns spokesman siad, “Our goal is to create a space everyone can be proud of, a home from home environment where people can come together and relax. In designing the lounge and recreational spaces, our team put a lot of thought to the colour scheme that should be used.
“Colour affects us at a physical, spiritual and emotional level, so our designers used colour psychology to determine the perfect palette for this space to help transform it from a functional living area into a warm and inviting home. The use of vibrant colour across the walls, floor and key furnishings will help bring energy, warmth and friendliness to this unique place and create a positive environment for the residents.The project is due to be completed in December and we are looking forward to sharing the finished result.”
