The 2013 BFBS Big Salute auction day raised £10,342 for five Forces Charities, including Veterans Aid.
Ten hours of live on-air coverage of the online auction was broadcast worldwide on Friday 1st November across the BFBS radio network.
Two tickets to the 2014 GQ Men of the Year Awards after party attracted the highest bids, and made a whopping £951.22, while Centre Court passes to next year’s Wimbledon also proved popular and raised an impressive £521.
Representatives from the five charities supported by the BFBS Big Salute were invited to the BFBS studios in Buckinghamshire for live interviews on the day, and also experienced the huge buzz as the bids rolled in. Peter Cowling and Jason Sullivan from Veterans Aid appeared on the Breakfast Show on Friday, 1st November 2013, and talked about the support they had received from the charity when they were in crisis.
Glyn Strong, Media Manager said, “We are delighted to be supported by BFBS and every penny that we receive from The Big Salute is spent on the veterans who seek our help.”
