Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Hillier appointed as Trustee

October 31, 2019

Veterans Aid welcomes Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Hillier as a new Trustee to our dedicated board.

Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Hillier retired from the Royal Air Force in July 2019 after 39 years of service, culminating in his final 3 years, when he was Chief of the Air Staff.

A Tornado pilot and flying instructor by background, he has flown and commanded throughout his career, including on numerous operational deployments. He also has extensive experience working in the centre of the Ministry of Defence, mainly in the areas of joint planning, programming and equipment acquisition.

Properly looking after those currently serving and our veterans has long been at the core of his leadership values, so he is delighted now to be a Trustee of Veterans Aid.

Reflecting on his new role, Sir Stephen said:

‘Looking after those currently serving and our veterans has been a strong personal focus for me throughout my 39 year career in the Royal Air Force.  I very much look forward to maintaining that focus and now contributing as a Trustee to the vitally important mission of Veterans Aid.’

CEO of Veterans Aid Dr Hugh Milroy welcomed Sir Stephen aboard and said:

‘We are delighted to welcome Sir Stephen Hillier to our board. His skills in leadership, his experience in delivering complex programmes and his deep military knowledge make him the perfect candidate to help in ensuring any decisions made are, as always, in the best interest of our Veterans.’
