For the seventh consecutive year Veterans Aid has benefited from the generosity of the BFBS (British Forces Broadcasting) Big Salute – a running total of £80,000.
Nicky Ness, Controller of BFBS Radio, said, “The BFBS team feel very close to the wonderful work being done by Veterans Aid and we have a long association with this inspirational charity.
“We are delighted to be able to make this donation, on behalf of our staff and listeners who have worked hard throughout the year to raise the money. We’re also very pleased to confirm that Veterans Aid remains a beneficiary as one of the five chosen forces charities under the current Big Salute fundraising banner, so there will be more money coming next year.”

CEO of Veterans Aid Dr Hugh Milroy said, “We are, of course, delighted to be receiving this £6,000 from BFBS and to be confirmed as a Big Salute beneficiary for 2014/15, but this is really not about money. Every penny will be spent on supporting the ex-servicemen and women who seek out help, but we can’t put a price on the work BFBS does for us as a force multiplier – taking our message to the heart of the serving community.
“We hope they will never need us, but if they do it is important that they know that we exist and what we can do to help.”
All money donated is shared between five of the broadcaster’s chosen charities; Veterans Aid, Blind Veterans UK, BLESMA, Combat Stress and FAB.
