Veterans Aid Veterans Aid

How we operate

Veterans Aid provides immediate practical support to all former UK servicemen and women who are homeless, facing homelessness or in crisis.

Veterans Aid has an open-door policy which ensures that it is accessible to every  veteran  who  seeks its help. This may involve taking immediate, practical action to  address basic needs and ensuring  that as a matter of priority veterans are clothed, fed and given  safe accommodation. Non-veterans who seek help are put in touch with other appropriate charities.

Governance

The charity is governed by a Board of Trustees and enjoys the Patronage of The Dowager Viscountess Rothermere.

Further details can be found in the most recent Impact Report.

Where we operate

Veterans Aid operates from two locations, a Head Office/Operations Centre in Victoria and a residential home, New Belvedere House, in East London. Although the charity has a light footprint its technology allows it to reach veterans countrywide and internationally.

New Belvedere House staff are answerable to the CEO through their full time Manager, who is supported 24/7.

Services

In addition to its in-house experts (e.g. dedicated substance misuse and addictions counsellor, employment and training advisor) the charity draws on the services of a wide range of independent professionals.

What makes us different

Each ex-serviceman or woman who comes to Veterans Aid with a problem is an individual, for whom a bespoke solution is crafted.

The charity’s relatively flat structure, open-door policy, wide network of contacts and well-tested processes facilitates rapid and informed decision-making. In dealing with major life crises, like homelessness, it has earned a reputation for swift, effective intervention. Homelessness and crisis prevention are at the heart of the charity’s wellbeing strategy.

Where possible no money is spent replicating what exists elsewhere and can be accessed immediately.

Are you in crisis?

It doesn’t matter when you served or for how long – we will try to help.
